IBW Book Award Shortlists

We are delighted today to announce the shortlist for the Independent Bookshop Week  Book Award. As voted for by you, our IBW bookshops and judged by a panel of authors, booksellers and journalists, the three winners - in Adult, Children’s and Picture Book categories - will be announced on Friday 15th June, the day before the start of this year’s IBW.
You will receive your IBW Point of Sale Kit  w/c 21st May, via Gardners Wholesale, and  it will contain bookmarks, stickers, and posters promoting the IBW Book Award, as well as many other items to bedeck your shops with celebratory fun!

Last Chance Hotel Debut from Former Indie Bookseller!

Hot on the heels of LBF, we are delighted to bring you a wonderful  publisher offer for IBW this year, from Chicken House, who are publishing former indie bookseller Nicki Thornton’s debut children’s novel in June and who have created a gorgeous indie edition.
 
Nicki ran Mostly Books in Abingdon with her husband Mark for ten years, and is now publishing her first book.  She’s keen to visit as many indies as possible, and is a wonderful advocate for independent bookshops, given her experience of being a bookseller.

Here’s what Pan Macmillan have got planned for this year’s IBW:
 
Macmillan 175 - Independent Bookshop Innovation Award
To celebrate 175 years of Macmillan, seven independent bookshops will be awarded £1750 each to launch a new and innovative project in their store. Projects focusing around community outreach or supporting new readers are particularly welcome but all proposals are eligible.
