News Bulletins For Bookshops

Independent Booksellers Children's Book of the Season

To celebrate the end of Independent Bookshop Week 2017, we are delighted to announce a brand new initiative  - our Indie Booksellers Children’s Book of the Season.
Our Children’s Book of the Season has been created by the BA Children’s Bookselling Group as a way of indie bookshops really getting behind a kids' book every season.  With the combined strength of a number of indies, we are sure to see pickup and increased coverage (and sales, we hope!) for the selected title.

We are delighted to announce the three winners of this year’s Independent Bookshop Week (IBW) Book Award, with wins for both Faber & Faber and Macmillan Children’s Books.  This year’s winners are:

Social Media Plans

The main purpose of today’s bulletin though is to let you know about our social media plans for IBW this year.  You can find all the social media banners on the Bookshop Resources page of the site.

Where do you like to read?
Our main social media focus this year is to encourage book lovers to share their favourite reading place - whether it be their summer holiday spots, a lunchtime escape to the park or a secret reading place. Authors, publishers and book lovers everywhere will be sharing where they like to read on Twitter and Instagram –so why not ask your customers to share their favourite reading place between 24th June and 1st July under #myreadingplace and they could win the IBW Book Award shortlists and a £50 National Book Token so spend in your shop. Talking of reading places – this seems the perfect opportunity to create *the* perfect reading place in your shop (if it doesn’t already exist of course) for your customers – remember to share your photos with us! This initiative kicks off on Saturday 24th June and throughout the week – please do download the social media banners from our website and join the conversation during the week.
