Indie Bookshop and Publisher Twinning

Independent Bookshop and Publisher Twinning
It’s more important than ever for independent publishers and independent booksellers to be supporting each other. This year one of the exciting strands of activity we want to get going is independent bookshop and independent publisher twinning. Below are details about a couple of indie publishers who are keen to work with you. Do contact them directly if you’d be interested in partnering with them. Other indie publishers will be getting involved and  we will share information about them as soon as we can .

Wrecking Ball Press

Wrecking Ball Press
Since 1997, Wrecking Ball Press has published high quality, cutting edge literature, building a national reputation that far exceeds its size. This is based on a commitment to connecting the most innovative and accessible novels and poetry with a readership not traditionally associated with literature. Wrecking Ball Press has a strong record of discovering exciting first time writers, many of whom have gone on to have further commercial and critical success with larger publishers. Wrecking Ball would be able to supply partner bookshops with some signed stock. Many of their authors are available for virtual events and are active on social media, and would be willing to create video content.

And Other Stories
And Other Stories
And Other Stories has been publishing the best fiction and non-fiction from around the world since 2011. Our list is a mix of translated and original English language titles, and our aim is always to seek out unexpected stories, often by writers from underrepresented groups, and bring them to the attention of a wide audience. We have almost 20K Twitter followers @andothertweets and 3K+ on Instagram andotherpics, plus a regular newsletter with almost 10K engaged readers.
Twinning with us for Independent Bookshop Week could involve a couple of virtual author (or author-translator) events, a book group discussion (with discussion materials provided and a book's editor/translator on hand), guest bookselling from our publisher Stefan Tobler or one of our more prominent authors. We can also try to get you signed stock or bookplates! Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, we've also been offering 20% of proceeds from new subscriptions to indie bookshops - if we twin with you for IBW we could focus our promotions for this on your shop.
